- NSYNC reunited for an appearance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12.
- A day later, the boy band teased an announcement in an Instagram post.
- The group has now released a new song for the upcoming “Trolls Band Together” movie.
Although they didn’t perform, the NSYNC reunion was one of the highlights of the night, leading to fans on social media speculating about a tour.
Even Swift had questions when she collected her award, asking the group: “Like, are you doing something? What’s going to happen now? They’re going to do something and I need to know what it is.”
On September 14, NSYNC announced via a video post on their Instagram account that they will release their first single in 21 years. The song, “Better Place,” is taken from the soundtrack to the new animated movie, “Trolls Band Together,” in which Timberlake stars.
In the video announcement, Timberlake also said the song would be a love letter for longtime fans of the band.

During an appearance on “Hot Ones” in September, the band said that the new song will be a mixture of their classic sound and modern music.
Timberlake said: “I think the trick was to try to capture both for our fans that have been with us for so long, to give them something that felt not necessarily nostalgic but familiar. And then see if we could, you know, take that sound and make it feel modern.”
NSYNC last performed together as a five-piece at the 2013 VMAs when Bass, Chasez, Kirkpatrick, and Fatone joined Timberlake on stage during a 12-song medley after he received the Video Vanguard Award.
In 2019, the group performed without Timberlake when they joined Ariana Grande for a surprise appearance during her Coachella set.
All five members reunited in 2018 when they received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Better Place” is available to stream now.
